Barbara J. Wathen, 82, of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Witham Hospital, Lebanon.
She was born March 6, 1938, at Thorntown, a daughter of the late Theodore and Lilly (Osborne) Stockton.
In 1956 she graduated from Warren Central High School and later attended Business College in Indianapolis.
On Sept. 4, 1959, she was married to Herbert A. “Sonny” Wathen; he survives, and they shared 60 wonderful years together.
Barbara worked at the Garment Factory in Thorntown, also at Economy Insurance in the accounting department in Lebanon, and later at Fuji Film in Crawfordsville. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Thorntown and the Red Hat Society. In her free time, she enjoyed word search puzzles and loved socializing. She adored her family, especially all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: husband Sonny Wathen of Crawfordsville; children, William (Debra) Wathen of Crawfordsville, Ric (Tina) Stockton of New Market and Gary Stockton of Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Ben) Strong, Sarah Wathen, Hannah Wathen, Eric (Jenny) Stockton, Chrissy Stockton, Brandon Stockton and Alison Sheets; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Sharon (Charlie) Hinds of Linden’; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by five siblings, Frances Stockton, Bob Stockton, Jerry Stockton, Ted Stockton and Larry Stockton.
Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 17 at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce White officiating. Interment will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Thorntown.
