Brett Cating is seeking the Republican nomination for Montgomery County Council, District 4.
Cating is the current officeholder and began serving on the county council in 2023.
He was born and raised in Ladoga and graduated from Southmont High School in 1982.
As a child, Cating delivered the Journal Review in the east end of Ladoga. He grew up helping farmers and working at their family-owned business, Service Lumber Co.
Cating holds a Master Road Builders Certificate from Purdue University.
He is a small business owner, operating Cating Investments LLC and Cating’s Just 4 Kicks Farm. Previously, Cating owned the Canning Factory Bar & Grill in Ladoga and was employed as the past director of Montgomery County Highway Department.
Cating has served as president of the Indiana Association of County Highway Engineers and Supervisors and received the Supervisor of the Year award in 2003. He has been a sports announcer for the Crawfordsville radio station for more than 30 years.
Cating was a 30-year member of the Ladoga Lions Club and served as a past president and treasurer. He also has served as the Ladoga Library Board president, West Central Solid Waste District Board member and Midstate Mule and Donkey Association past president. He is a member of the Eagles and Sons of the American Legion at the Byron Cox Legion Post 72.
Cating and his wife Amy live on their farm near Ladoga with their three dogs and occasional cows, mules or sheep. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
Cating enjoys farming, mules, fishing, hunting, traveling and sharing the history of Ladoga.
