North Montgomery played host Friday to Attica and won for the first time this season. The Chargers the Red Ramblers 9-3.
Charger pitcher Kendra McClamroch had her best outing of the season. The sophomore gave up two hits and struck out 17 in a complete seven-inning game.
North Montgomery’s offense produced 11 hits and was led by Sophie Welshimer, Bailey Nichols, McClamroch and Erica Newkirk each having two hits.
Charger Jayla Birge hit an inside the park home run in the second inning that put her team ahead 2-0.
The Chargers broke the game open in the third inning when they scored five runs to go up 7-0.
North Montgomery (1-7, 0-4 MAC) plays Covington (7-4) at home Monday and will play at home again Tuesday against Greencastle (8-0, 4-0).
Athenians drop game to Living Water
Crawfordsville lost Friday 17-0 in five innings at home to Living Water Homeschool.
The visitors scored three runs in the top of the first inning and scored in every inning thereafter. Six runs in the third inning put the Athenians behind 10-0.
Crawfordsville was held to one hit and it came from Christina Susdorf.
Athenian Molly Pierce took the loss on the mound. The senior allowed 10 runs, but one earned run, in three innings.
Living Water (8-4) plays Tuesday at Brebeuf (3-3).
Crawfordsville (1-8, 0-4 MAC) plays Tuesday at Monon Athletic Conference foe Cascade (6-0, 4-0 MAC) and will play host Wednesday to the Cadets.
Mustangs win on Friday
Fountain Central played at home Friday against Faith Christian and won 9-8.
The Mustangs were rolling early in the game and led 7-2 going into the top of the sixth inning. The Eagles scored six runs in the sixth frame to take an 8-7 lead.
Fountain Central ended up winning the game in walk-off fashion with two scores in their last at-bat.
Mustang Kyra Kiger hit a double with two outs scoring two runs to win the game.
Fountain Central was led by Jackie Weber who was 3-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs.
Fountain Central (5-3) plays Monday at Frankfort (0-5). The Mustangs play Tuesday at Seeger (4-3).
