Charles “Barton” Dooley, 92, of Crawfordsville and formerly of Marshall, passed away July 4, 2020, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 23, 1928, the son of Clifford and Elizabeth Addison Dooley. In 1951, he married Sue Lightle, who is deceased. In 2003, he married Lelane Lighty who survives.

Barton graduated from Marshall High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He lived and farmed the land that has been in his family for 160 years. He was a member of the Marshall Federated Church, president of the Washington Township Cemetery Board, and member of the Covered Bridge Art Association. He was a well-known member of several carnival glass organizations and a fan of all things Purdue.

He is survived by his wife, Lelane Lighty; four nephews, Steve and Niel Holbrook and Wayne and Bill Leminger, and extended family Dale Farner, Betty Farner, Keith Hamm, Brent Lighty, Leanne LaFuze, Laura Lighty and Olivia Lighty.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8 at Bethany Cemetery, east of Marshall, with Pastor Brian Holt officiating. Military graveside rites will be given by the Parke County Veterans. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville.
