Commons announces re-election campaign

WILLIAMSPORT — Conservative Republican State Rep. Matt Commons announced his campaign for re-election to State House District 13.

During his first year in the Statehouse, Commons has championed commonsense, conservative policies. He authored legislation to defend religious freedom, increase oversight of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, protect local control from Indianapolis bureaucrats and ban Hoosier tax-funded economic development offices in countries that threaten America’s safety. He has fought to stop the LEAP and carbon capture pipelines, safeguarded parental rights, co-sponsored a resolution calling for term limits in Congress, and taken a stand to prevent illegal immigration.

“Over the past year, I have fought for commonsense, conservative policies. Rural Hoosiers deserve a voice, and I will always fight to make sure they are represented,” Commons said. “We are delivering conservative victories to safeguard our Hoosier values, but there is still more work to be done. I am honored to have the opportunity to seek re-election to represent Hoosiers in the 13th district.”

Commons was elected in 2024 after receiving overwhelming support from local elected officials. He is delivering on his campaign promise to protect local control, defend constitutional rights, stand up to unelected bureaucrats in Indianapolis and fight the radical Biden-era Green New Deal carbon capture pipelines. Commons’ mission remains the same: protect Hoosier values, promote conservative policies, defend local control and reduce burdensome government regulations.

Commons is a lifelong Hoosier, Army combat veteran, high school teacher. Commons enlisted in the U.S. Army out of high school. He deployed twice to Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division. During his second tour, Commons stepped on an IED pressure plate, resulting in the partial loss of his right leg. Commons was awarded a Purple Heart. He currently teaches history at Seeger High School. He and his wife, Alyssa, and their two sons call Williamsport home.
