Corliss J Garrett, 71, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Corliss was born on Feb. 27, 1950 to Ernest Ellis and Helen Ellis of Hillsboro. After graduating Fountain Central High School in 1969, Corliss attended Manchester College before moving to Knoxville, where she started her banking career at First American Bank.

She worked in various roles throughout her career before retiring with Pinnacle Bank as a Financial Advisor Assistant. Corliss was admired by her coworkers for her drive and dependability, but customers and colleagues remember Corliss for her sweet spirit and beautiful smile she brought to work with her daily.

Corliss had a servant’s heart often volunteering her time for women at Knox Area Rescue Mission’s Serenity Shelter, and children at Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. She was also active with Horse Haven of Tennessee rescuing animals. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Corliss was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Helen Ellis. She is survived by sisters, Belinda (Eric) Haas, Summerville, South Carolina, and Lisa (Clint) Blundon, Spring Branch, Texas; brother, Ray (Sue) Ellis, Hillsboro; sons, Todd (Jenny) Garrett, Powell, Tennessee, and Ryan (Laura) Garrett, Knoxville; and grandchildren, Trevor Garrett, Katie Grace Garrett, Preston Garrett (Todd and Jenny), Makayla Garrett (Ryan and Laura).

For Indiana family and friends, a receiving of friends will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021 at Waynetown Baptist Church, 113 E. Walnut St., Waynetown.

For her local friends and family in Knoxville, a receiving of friends will be held  from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 with service to follow at Cullum Hall (Old Sanctuary) in Grace Baptist Church, 7171 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville.
