Members of the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club had the privilege of welcoming Diamond Justus, the newly appointed Director of Drug Free Montgomery County, to their meeting. Justus delivered a compelling presentation highlighting the collaborative efforts between DFMC and various community organizations dedicated to tackling substance abuse issues, including alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

During her address, Justus emphasized the significance of partnerships forged through five distinct committees, each equipped with tailored strategic plans. These committees collectively focus on prevention, harm reduction, enhancing access to services, and developing first response protocols. Such concerted efforts underscore the commitment of DFMC and its partners to address substance abuse comprehensively.

A pivotal aspect of community care discussed was the accessibility of Narcan, a life-saving medication for opioid overdose reversal. Narcan is available free of charge at multiple NALOXBOX locations across the area. To locate these sites, individuals can utilize the online directory at https://drugfreemoco.org/naloxbox-locations/.

Looking ahead, the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club anticipates hosting a series of engaging speakers in the coming months. Residents are encouraged to join the club’s Thursday meetings at the Crawfordsville District Public Library, where they can enjoy insightful discussions and even have lunch provided courtesy of the club for new attendees.
