Foley leads South at Danville Invite
Southmont’s Austin Foley solidified his standing as one of the area’s top golfers. In wet conditions Saturday, Foley shot a 77 at the Danville Invitational played at Twin Bridges Golf Club. The Mounties placed an impressive ninth out of 20 teams by shooting a 348.
Other Southmont scores were Carter Ludlow 86, Ethan Hutchison 87, Hunter Thompson 98 and Jack Sarver 109.
Crawfordsville finished in 16th place at the invitational.
Crawfordsville scores were Jude Hurt 92, Owen Pierce 94, Caiden Murray 96, Colton Custer 100 and Jordan Archer 101.
Team Scores were Hamilton Southeast 306, Fishers 316, Hamilton Southeast JV 321, Terre Haute North 336, McCutchan 339, Tri-West 346, Southmont 348, Brownsburg 350, Zionsville 357, Pike 360, Mooresville 360, Danville 362, Greenfield 370, Crawfordsville 382, Greenwood 388, North Putnam 402, Lebanon JV 418, Monrovia- no score.
Hamilton Southeast’s Upchurch was the meet medalist with a 70 and Kunkle of Fishers shot a 73 followed by Foley.
Chargers place second in Early Bird
North Montgomery placed second Saturday in the Covington Early Bird Invitational in the rain. The format was for each school to bring six golfers divided into three two-man teams.
North Montgomery’s two-man teams shot a combined 234 behind first-place Harrison’s score of 213.
North’s scoring was led by Isaac Hamby and Dylan Priddy with a 73, placing them third overall.
Other Charger scores were Jackson Grundy and Brody Roche 80 and Hayden Allen and Tyler Hintz 81.
Other team scores were South Vermillion 235, Covington (Black) 247, Western Boone (Blue) 247, Western Boone (Red) 285, Covington (Gold) 291, Attica 318,
North Montgomery travels Monday to Harrison Hills Golf Club to play North Vermillion and Attica.
