Franklin Rogers Powers, 77, of New Market passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 4, 1943,at Smartsburg, to the late Lloyd James and Bernice Maxine (Rogers) Powers.

Frank graduated from New Market High School in 1961 and married the love of his life, Nancy Kelsey on July 16, 1965. Throughout the years he worked at Busenbark’s Farm, Kenny Vice Ford, Plastene, worked at Mid-States Steel and Wire for 32 years, Yes Conveyors, Town of New Market, and worked as a farm hand for Barry and Leslie Dove. He was a member of the New Market Baptist Church where he was a deacon, trustee, financial secretary, superintendent of Sunday Schools and custodian. He was a big IU fan and loved watching his granddaughter, Kelsey, swim, run track and cross county, and play soccer at South Montgomery High School and University of Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing, camping, flee marketing, and taking rides with Nancy in their Mustang Convertible. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Powers of New Market; their two children, Joe (Melissa) Powers and Jami (Tim) Dugger, both of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren, Justin Dugger, Misty (Kyle) Bowers, Devin Esparza, Braydon Esparza and Kelsey Dugger; great-granddaughter Emma Bowers; two sisters, Sandra Williams and Sue Powers; brother Larry Powers; mother-in-law Virginia Kelsey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Betty Powers; father-in-law Norris Kelsey; two sisters-in-law, Janet Kelsey-Norman and Starlet Powers; and brother-in-law Ed Pinkerton.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, with Pastor Todd Randles officiating. The service will be live-streamed and recorded which can be viewed on Frank’s obituary page at www.sandersfuneralcare.com. Social distancing is expected and masks are required. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
