Joyce Grimble of Waynetown has announced her candidacy for reelection for District 1 of the Montgomery County Council.
Grimble is currently vice president of the council and is a liaison to the Soil and Water Conservation District, Regional Sewage District and Purdue Extension. In addition, she has served on the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council and a committee to expand transportation services throughout Montgomery County.
“It has been a pleasure to serve on the county council the past three years,” Grimble said. “Our county administration has taken positive steps to bring incremental growth and new opportunities to our area. We are stronger working together and can empower our community for future possibilities, while still maintaining the small-town principals that make Montgomery County a wonderful place to call home.”
Grimble, a retired educator, taught Family and Consumer Sciences locally at the high school level before becoming Director of Guidance at West Lafayette Jr.-Sr. High School. She has been involved in many different organizations in Montgomery County, having served as president of the Montgomery County Community Foundation, Montgomery County Extension Board and Council and a board member of MUFFY. Currently, she is active with the Waynetown United Methodist Church, and 4-H, as a judge for county and state fairs.
Grimble is a graduate of Purdue University and has held leadership positions on several alumni boards, including the Purdue Council on Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching. She and her husband Jack have two children, Jana and Justin, and three grandsons.
