John Andrew Callis passed from his Earthly home to his Heavenly home on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020.
John was born to Robert Callis and L. Maxine Harmless Callis on Dec. 21, 1939, at Bridgeton. He graduated in 1958 from Bridgeton High School. He married Kay Thompson Callis on Sept. 14, 1968, at Woodland Heights Christian Church.
He retired from Wabash National in Lafayette in 2001. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing and traveling. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church, where he served as a past Elder and a member of the Pastoral team.
He is survived by: wife Kay; daughter Raina (Jason) Gates; son Steve, by a previous marriage; grandchildren, Brittany Lohorn-Weaver, Brody (Brittany) Lohorn, Garrett (Brittany) Gates, Gavin Gates and Steven Smith; great-granddaughters, Kamryn and Loirn Beard, Leiah and Maci Lohorn; step-grandson Kaydenn Weaver; and cousins, Beverly, Doug and Joe Hawkins of Rockville.
He was preceded in death by daughter Lori Lohorn-Bradshaw; parents; and grandparents.
Due to high COVID-19 risks, private family graveside services will be held at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Burkhart Funeral Home.
