Count me as a rural Hoosier who is not skeptical of Greg Ballard (re: “Ballard is the wild card in the Secretary of State race,” June 27-28). The secretary of state’s office shouldn’t be a laboratory for cooking up false notions that Indiana’s elections are insecure or solely a launchpad for political ambitions.
Ballard was one of the last sensible Republicans to hold power. Now as an independent, he gives hope to the politically homeless who look to the right at a party that’s lost its soul and to the left at a party that’s lost its way.
