Letter: Reader believes Sanders qualified for state senator post

Posted

David Sanders is the Democratic candidate for State Senate District 23. He is an Associate Professor of Biological Science at Purdue and teaches the COVID-19 class. As a West Lafayette City councilor, he has “Monthly Meet Your Councilor” meetings with constituents and answers every constituent email personally.

Good chance you’ve met him, for he has gone door-to-door in Waynetown, Wingate, New Richmond, Waveland, and Attica, and more, in this Indiana Senate race. And you can see everywhere he’s been on his “David Sanders for Indiana State Senate” Facebook page.

When approached by the League of Women Voters to participate in a debate, David immediately agreed. However, his Republican opponent declined saying he was too busy to share his positions on issues. The same thing happened when radio station WBAA invited the two candidates to debate.

Having known and worked with him for some time, I urge everyone to consider David Sanders’ exceptional qualifications for being a state senator, one who is an accessible public official, and for voting for him in the Nov. 8 election.
