Mae ‘Louise’ Wininger Snellenbarger

Mae “Louise” Wininger Snellenbarger, 91, of rural Wingate passed away at 8:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, in The Lane House, Crawfordsville.

She was born in Martin County to the late Earl and Agnes Collins Wininger. She married Joseph Snellenbarger on Dec. 2, 1949, at Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death December 19, 2020.

Louise was a 1947 graduate of New Market High School. She had been employed by the General Telephone Directory Office and as a bookkeeper at the Wingate Garage, operated by her husband. She was a member of New Hope Chapel in Wingate. She was a loving grandmother/great-grandmother and enjoyed watching them participate in school and sports activities. She enjoyed baking and everyone loved her cinnamon rolls, which she even taught her brother Bill to make.

Surviving are three sons, Ron (Diana) Snellenbarger of Wingate, Steve (Kim) Snellenbarger of Monticello and Jeff (Cindy) Snellenbarger of New Richmond; brother Bill (Jane) Wininger of Glasgow, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kelli (Marc) Welch of Crawfordsville, Cameron (Meaghan) Snellenbarger of Crawfordsville, Rachel Snellenbarger of Texas, Ross (Stacey) Snellenbarger of Brownsburg, Shelby (Ethan) Redmon of Crawfordsville, Logan (Katie) Snellenbarger of Whitestown; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe; sister Doretha Kay Myers; and brother Dean Wininger.

Private visitation will be held at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Public graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 at Oak Hill Cemetery North, (just past the Mausoleum, then to the right), with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Follow the recommendations of the Indiana State Board of Health for COVID safety and please distance and wear a mask.
