Marjorie Ann Knott, 77, of Waveland peacefully passed away to her heavenly home at 5:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

She was born Sept. 6, 1943, at Clinton. She was the daughter of John and Katherine Moore of Newport. She has two sisters, Betty Palm of Brazil, Indiana, who is still living, and Patty Berry of Rockville, who passed recently and a sister-in-law Janey Russell of Haines City, Florida.

She graduated from Newport High School in 1961. After high school she went to cosmetology school in Terre Haute and then she worked at Marie’s Beauty Salon in Rockville for two years. She met the love of her life, James Ray Knott, and they married Feb.1, 1964, at the residence of Reverend Trousdale. They were married for 56 years.

They had three children, Chris (Joe) Knott Newlin, Lorie (Mike) Knott Johnston and Jeff (Kim) Knott. They were blessed with seven grandchildren, Alexa and Evan Newlin; Kylee, Morgan and Austin Johnston; and Dalton and Garrett Knott.

She loved many things especially family gatherings, watching her grandkids at school activities, playing cards with the “lunch bunch,” watching the hummingbirds feed and monarch butterflies hatch, talking with community friends, getting her hair done (Lisa and Janet), watching The Hallmark Channel, hanging out at the lake house watching the fish, reading and putting puzzles together.

She was a member of the Howard Township Home Economic Club, the Flower Club and she volunteered as a room mother at Turkey Run Elementary School. As a young adult she attended Waveland Christian Church.

Survivors include her wonderful husband; loving children and grandchildren; beloved sister Betty; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, mother and father-in-law and her beloved sister Patty Berry.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with the Rev. Greg Robbins officiating. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family kindly requests masks be worn.
