The idea that began 19 years ago as a fun summertime fundraiser for the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum has evolved into one of the county’s largest picnics and one of the area’s most successful summer festivals. The 19th Taste of Montgomery County is returning to the museum grounds from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday. Museum staff and a small army of volunteers are preparing for the most successful outing ever.
A host of Montgomery County’s finest restaurants, caterers, and food vendors will be serving up some of their most delectable recipes on the Museum grounds this year. We are so pleased to be welcoming Acai Bowls, Gordo’s Food Truck, Swick’s Kitchen & Emporium, Keke’s Kravings, Four Seasons Local Market, China Inn, The Juniper Spoon, Smokin Melts & Rollin Dough, the Crawfordsville Country Club, Sabores de Veracruz Bakery, Chavez Kettle Corn, Greeks Pizzeria, Smitty D’s Hotdogs, Wildcat Creek Winery, and Klooz Brewz.
Truly something for every taste bud.
Accompanying the delicious food available at the Taste will be fabulous live music from local and regional acts, representing the quality and variety that Taste-goers have always enjoyed. The Taste will feature music from Mark Stansbury (1-3 p.m.); The Big Swing Band (4-6 p.m.); and Common Ground (7-9 p.m.).
Advance tickets went on sale on Aug. 3 and will be $5 for adults and $2 for students. Advance sale tickets are available at the Lew Wallace Museum, the Montgomery County Visitors Bureau, A Sprig of Lime and the Crawfordsville Park & Recreation community building. Admission on the day of the Taste will be $8 for adults and $3 for students. Advance ticket holders will also be able to get into the gate faster on the day of the Taste, as they won’t have to wait in line for admission.
The Taste would not be possible without generous sponsors. Every year the Taste committee and the Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society Board and staff are amazed by the local businesses and individuals who contribute to this event, and they sincerely thank them for their support.
