Oliver “Sonny” Reed, 86, of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
Sonny was born Jan. 5, 1936, at Pierceton, Indiana, a son of the late Baxter and Mable (Keller) Reed. Sonny was reared in Boone County. He graduated from Jackson Township High School with the class of 1954 and went on to Purdue University, graduating in 1958.
Sonny taught school at Waveland High School and Granville Wells for 10 years and was a lifelong farmer. He loved God, his grandkids, his family, his farm and animals, but he lived to play basketball.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Reed; children, Terrill Reed-Wilkinson (Max Wilkinson), Robin Miller (Brian) and Gunnar Reed (Tricia); grandchildren, Keller Wilkinson, Tori Wilkinson, Duncan Reed (Lizzie) and Hillary Reed; sisters, Janet Gadsin, Carole Morehead and Sharyl Groscost (Dan); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Richard Reed.
A celebration of life will be held 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Dover Christian Church, 955 State Road 75, Lebanon.
