Chargers beat Patriots
North Montgomery traveled Monday to Harrison Hills in Attica and defeated Seeger 178-189.
Charger Isaac Hamby was the meet medalist by shooting a 39.
Other Charger scores were Brody Roche 45, Dylan Priddy 45 and Hayden Allen 49.
North Montgomery will play host today to Riverton Parke at Rocky Ridge Golf Club.
TENNIS
Chargers fall to Bison
North Montgomery was defeated by Benton Central 5-0 on Monday.
Four of the five matches were decided in two games. Only Charger No. 3 singles Caelyn Carpenter forced three games. The scores against Bison Olivia Hardebak were 5-7, 7-5, 10-8.
Other Charger scores include No. 1 singles Kate Merica lost 6-3, 6-2 to Violet Hardebak. No. 2 singles Cassidy Thomas was defeated by Emma Hinds 6-0, 6-0.
No. 1 doubles Annie Hess and Lauren Kelp lost 6-0, 6-0 to Taryn Klemme and Skyler Smith. No. 2 doubles Rayna Warmer and Keely Watt defeated Izzy Shrader and Isabelle Hamby 6-4, 6-4.
The Chargers played host Tuesday to Clinton Prairie and will entertain Crawfordsville at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Athenians down Knights
Crawfordsville defeated Central Catholic 3-2 on Monday in Lafayette.
Winning for the Athenians were No. 2 singles Mable Hoar 6-2, 6-2 and both doubles teams.
Crawfordsville’s No. 1 doubles of Isle Seward and Alayna Hall won 6-1, 6-1 and No. 2 doubles of Elliott Baker and Sarah Melevage won 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
Mustangs beat Trojans
Fountain Central defeated Covington 3-2 on Monday. The Mustang doubles teams were the difference in the meet by winning their matches.
The Mustang No. 1 Doubles of Savannah Bowers and Lilly Peterson won 6-2, 6-1 over Jalyn Allen and Karlee Drollinger. No. 2 Doubles Rya Jackson and Jayden Larkin defeated Hope Smaltz and Madi Holycross 6-2, 6-1.
In singles action, Trojan No. 1 Malah Bridwell beat Elise Webb 6-0, 6-0. Mustang No. 2 singles Laney Hoagland beat Kendall Shumaker 6-4, 6-1 and Trojan No. 3 singles Rhyane Beck defeated Esme Muniz 2-6, 6-3, 13-11.
Fountain Central played host to Parke Heritage on Tuesday.
BASEBALL
Mustangs offense explodes
Fountain Central had little trouble scoring runs Monday at South Vermillion. The Mustangs won 21-7 and won their first game of the young season.
Fountain Central’s Asher Davis drove in five runs with three hits including a 3-run homerun and two singles. The junior also picked up the win by pitching four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.
The Wildcats (2-3, 2-3 WRC) made the game interesting early by taking a 5-0 lead after the first inning and led 7-2 after two frames. The final four innings were all Mustangs as they scored 19 runs in the final four innings including six in the fifth inning and eight more runs in the sixth frame.
Mustang Nolan Acton was 4-for-5, scored three runs and added three RBI.
Other Mustang offensive leaders were Paul Adams with two hits, Ayden Batchelor with three hits with a homerun and Uriah Wildman with two hits. Joan Cervantes added two hits and Bryson Ross had two hits including a homerun. The Mustangs recorded 20 total hits.
The two teams played at Fountain Central (1-3, 1-2 WRC) on Tuesday in the second game of the Wabash River Conference contest.
SOFTBALL
Mustangs defeat South Vermillion
Fountain Central traveled Monday to South Vermillion and won 12-1. The Mustangs outhit the Wildcats 14-1.
Mustang Lillie Bennett had a complete game pitching and allowed just one hit.
Fountain Central’s offense was led by Patience Bixler and Jackie Webber who each had three hits. Kailey Daugherty and Olivia Jones each had two hits.
Fountain Central (3-2, 1-2 WRC) played host to South Vermillion (3-3, 2-2 WRC) on Tuesday.
Chargers lose to Bulldogs
North Montgomery’s young softball team continued their struggles Monday. The Chargers lost 17-5 in five innings to Clinton Central (4-3-1).
The Chargers did plate three runs in their first at-bat but turned around and gave up five runs to the Bulldogs.
Six runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning propelled Clinton Central to the lopsided game.
Chargers Sophie Welshimer and Ella McManomy had two hits apiece for the visitors.
North Montgomery committed seven errors in the game.
North Montgomery (0-5, 0-2 MAC) played at Monon Athletic Conference foe Western Boone (2-2, 0-3 MAC) on Tuesday and will play them again at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Charger Field.
