Rex E. Sutherlin, 80, of Rockville passed away at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

He was a retired truck driver for Conway Central Express in Terre Haute.

He was born Nov. 8, 1940, at Bloomingdale, to the late James LeRoy Sutherlin and Orlina Madge Burnside Sutherlin. His wife of 55 years, Carolyn Sue Wheeler Sutherlin, whom he married April 2, 1960, at New Market, passed away Nov. 1, 2015.

Survivors include: his children, Timothy (Napa) Sutherlin of Plano, Texas, Tamara (Calvin) Hubble of Rockville, Terri Harlos of Rockville and Tory Sutherlin of Arlington, Texas; brother Richard Sutherlin of Bainbridge, New York; three grandchildren, Megan and Justin Hubble and Matthew Udomphol; seven great-grandchildren; his grand dogs, Dexy, Dollie and Dewey that he loved to visit with; and his faithful feline companion, Sparky.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Ron and Russell Sutherlin; infant sister Roberta Sutherlin; and great-grandson Kale Hubble.

He was a 1958 graduate of Ladoga High School and served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Fellenzer Post 48, Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Taylor Post 1752 and AMVETS Post 61, all in Rockville. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling all over the country and riding his Polaris Ranger.

Memorial graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 at  Sutherlin Cemetery, north of Morton, followed by military graveside honors by Parke County veterans. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
