Richard E. McDonald passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 14, 2024, at home, in Crawfordsville.
He was born Mach 23, 1938, at home, in North Salem, to Ervin and Icie (Morphew) McDonald. Dick married Carol Powell on Sept. 1, 1957, in the First Christian Church in Crawfordsville.
He was a graduate of North Salem High School, Class of 1956. Dick briefly worked for Western Electric and continued his career at RR Donnelley, retiring in 1996. He was a lifelong Pacers fan, supporting the team when the team was still in the ABA. Dick was a fan of college basketball, especially Purdue. He enjoyed camping with his family at Sugar Mill Lake. Dick loved spending time with family and was the best dad and grandpa.
Dick is survived by wife Carol; four daughters, Jacque Brant, Beth (Brad) High, Diane (Steve) McLaughlin and Donna (Randy) Hendrickson, all of Crawfordsville; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda), Bailey (Josh), Caleb (Erikka), Brenon (Sara), Bret (Kelsey), Kyle (Amber), Emily (Cameron), Kaley (Mario) and Seth (Colleen); and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Margaret, Ann, Dorothy and Louise; and three brothers, Walter, Charles and Kenny.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 18 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Mace Community Cemetery.
