Rotary seeks sponsors for annual scholarship fundraiser

Posted

College scholarships for Montgomery County students awarded by the Crawfordsville Rotary Club are largely funded by fundraisers throughout the year.

With a number of the club’s fundraisers canceled this year due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the local community service organization is looking to make up for lost time with its annual Golf Scramble fundraiser, held this year on Oct. 24.

Those interested in sponsoring area scholarships and the scramble at the Crawfordsville Country Club may choose from four different levels — platinum, gold, silver and bronze.

“As part of the silver, gold and platinum sponsorship levels, a hole sponsorship will be included,” Rotarian Carmine Azzato said. “There will also be special mention and thanks to your business or organization during the live radio broadcasts promoting and leading up to this event ... also special mention and thanks will be in the newspaper advertisement, as well as an ad in the dining area at the country club where each person will receive their lunch.

“The bronze scholarship is for the advertisement that will be on the beverage cart — these will be running throughout the outing to all 18 holes,” Azzato added. “Aside from the sponsorship levels, your business or organization can donate special prizes for giveaways, as well as prizes for special achievements at select holes, such as best team score, closest to the pin or a hole in one.”

A catering sponsor is also sought for the scramble.

Alongside fundraising efforts, former Colts linebacker Steve Grant and Azzato — a nine-time champion of the pro wrestling circuit as Demolition Blast — will be on hand to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans. Both speak regularly at functions through Sports World, a nonprofit organization aimed at providing students with life skills and support.

In addition to sponsorship levels, individuals and teams up to four can sign up for the scramble.

Fees total $75 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, drinks from the beverage cart, lunch and prizes.

Sponsorship levels run for $2,000 (platinum), $1,500 (gold), $1,000 (silver) and $750 (bronze). Several sponsors have already signed up for the event, including Tipmont REMC, Wintek, Tri-County Bank & Trust, Hampton Inn & Suites and professional athletes.

Prizes include gift baskets, gift cards and free food from local restaurants such as Pizza Hut, Papa Johns and Jimmy Johns.

Deadline to sign up or make a contribution is 1 p.m. Oct. 21. Checks may be made payable to: Crawfordsville Rotary Club, P.O. Box 841, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
