Ruford “Jr.” Davis, 84, of Waveland passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at his home.
He was born Feb. 16, 1936, at Winchester, Indiana, to the late Rutherdford Davis and Mildred L. (Day) Davis. He married Glenda Wilburene (Long) Davis on June 9, 1957, at Ladoga.
Jr. was a 1954 graduate of Ladoga High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. After returning home he worked for RR Donnelley, Crawford Industries and was a custodian for New Market Elementary. He is fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love of his family.
He and Glenda were members of Fremont Street Baptist Church in Crawfordsville for over 30 years. He was a devout Christian and wonderful hardworking man until the day he died.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda; children, Janeen (Joe) Proctor, Sondra (Terry) Gleason, Rosalind Neal, Daniel Davis and Samuel Davis; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Jim (Doris) Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; son Eric Davis; and siblings, Pat, Betty and Harold.
Graveside service were conducted Monday, Dec. 14, at Old Union Cemetery, Waveland, with Pastor Daniel Aldridge officiating.
