Sue Alice Henry, known to friends as “Suzy,” passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the age of 89 years.

She was born Dec. 21, 1931, at Crawfordsville, to the late Morris and Ethel (Jarvis) Wright. Following her graduation from New Ross High School in 1950, Suzy married William E. Henry of Jamestown on May 20, 1950. The couple shared 49 wild years together, thanks to Suzy’s constant antics and humor.

Suzy was a devoted and proud farm wife, mother and grandmother. She filled her home with lots of parties full of love, laughter and homemade gifts. She loved working in her garden when she was not sewing or crafting. She worked at both Shewy Flowers and Milligan’s as a floral designer. Suzy also owned her own Upholstery Shop. She was a member of the Monto Carlo Whisk Club, Couples Card Club, and Home Ec. Club for 50 years. Suzy loved being a part of the Montgomery County 4-H. She was a member herself, a leader during her children’s years in 4-H, and taught her granddaughters through 4-H. She was also a member of the New Ross United Methodist Church.

Her husband Bill preceded her in death in 1999. Their daughter, Doneva Jo Henry, preceded her in death in 1969. Suzy’s brother and sister-in-law, Jim Wright and Corenia Wright McLean of New Ross, also preceded her in death.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. She will be especially missed by her very devoted son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Mary Henry of New Ross. She was the best “Grandma Suzy” two granddaughters could ask for: Julie (Brian) Miller of Fishers and Jodi (Brandon) Myers of Crawfordsville. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Aidan and Dylan Miller and Lincoln and Lettie Myers.

Family, friends and others whose lives Suzy touched are invited to Porter Funeral Home at Jamestown, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. Monday, May 3 for visitation, to reminisce and, of course, laugh like Grandma Suzy! A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m., with Tami Mussche officiating, and a burial service will follow at New Ross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to Montgomery County 4-H Incorporated (check memo: In Memory of Sue Henry, 400 Park Ave., Crawfordsville, IN 47933); or New Ross United Methodist Church (108 State St., New Ross, IN 47968).
