Thomas “Tom” Norman Twarek of Crawfordsville passed away Friday night, Feb. 23, 2024, at his home, from respiratory failure, surrounded by his family. He was 73.

Tom was born Aug. 29, 1950, at Port Clinton, Ohio. He was the son of Francis David Twarek and Magdalene Richik Twarek of Marblehead.

After moving to Norfolk, Virginia, and Pendleton, Oregon, he graduated from Highland High School in Highland, Indiana, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University. He worked as an accountant for many years. He married Ellen Ball in 1976

Tom was active in the community, serving on the Boys & Girls Club board and as a member of Kiwanis. He was a long-time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. He traveled extensively, participated in local volleyball and bowling leagues, and enjoyed playing trivia and watching sports. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Surviving family includes wife Ellen Ball; son Andrew “Drew” Twarek (Aimee); daughter Abby Twarek-McCann (David); son Cameron Twarek (Allison); four grandchildren, Eli, Micah, Aaron and Peter; sister Mary Ann Cook (Bob); three brothers, Jim Twarek (Chris), John Twarek (Tina) and Dave Twarek (Sue); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be4-7 p.m. Friday, March 1 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 212 S. Green St., Crawfordsville. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by an inurnment at the St. John’s Columbarium.

Donations in memory of Tom may be made to the Montgomery County Community Foundation or Heifer International.
