Veterans Expo returns Thursday

Posted

Local military veterans can get their flu shots at the Veterans Expo on Thursday.

The 27th annual event is set for 9 a.m. to noon at Crawfordsville American Legion Byron Cox Post #72, 101 Walter Remley Drive.

“We’re trying to get it built back up again,” said Mike Spencer, commander of the post’s honor guard, referring to the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the event.

Pharmacists from Walgreens will be on hand to administer flu shots to veterans 65 and older and their spouses. About 70 vaccines were given at last year’s expo, Spencer said.

Eye exams from Sugar Creek Eyecare will also be available.

Representatives of the local chapters of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Daughters of the American Revolution plan to offer information about their services.

John Hickey, the American Legion Department of Indiana service officer, and Joe Ellis, Montgomery County’s veterans service officer, will meet with veterans.

A biscuit and gravy breakfast will be served during the event.
