Waunita Irene (Wright) Butterman, 79, passed away Feb. 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Waunita was born to the late Robert Owen and Elva May (Huffman) Wright on July 27, 1943, in Parke County.
Waunita graduated from Turkey Run High School in 1961. On March 19, 1991, Waunita married the love of her life, John Butterman. He preceded her in death in 2019.
Waunita worked at CBS in Terre Haute for many years before moving to Missouri. She retired from Schreiber Foods in Carthage, Missouri. After retirement Waunita returned to Terre Haute. To say Waunita enjoyed puzzles would be an understatement, she loved crossword, jigsaw, and any type of puzzle. She attended Cloverland Community Church for many years. Christmas was Waunita’s favorite holiday. Each year she set up a beautiful Christmas village filled completely of churches. She always had a smile on her face.
Waunita is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John; an infant sister, Virginia Wright; three brothers, Herbert (Donna) Wright, Francis Wright and Lloyd (Margie) Wright; and brother-in-law Grover Wethington.
Waunita is survived by her children, Jerry (Peggy) Reisinger, Rodney (Trina) Reisinger, Max (Dawn) Reisinger, Jo (Kenneth) Shepard, John (Lisa) Butterman and Anne (Glenn) Ellis; her loving sister, Velma Wethington; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Larry Richmond will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
