Photo Provided Members of the Parke Heritage High School Jobs for America’s Graduate (JAG) class competed in the District Contest on Jan. 26 at Ivy Tech in Terre Haute. Lorelei Osterhoudt placed third in public speaking. Also participating in the contest were Will Patton, career presentation; Cade Mabry, Creative Solutions; Matthew Owens, Critical Thinking; Avery Myers, Critical Thinking; Cadence Studebaker, Critical Thinking; Kenadie Cooper-Arizmendi, Writing Skills; Brenna Mager, Writing Skills; Natalie Alexander, Digital Design; and Brad Ratcliff, Outstanding Senior. The contest is a chance for JAG students to practice what they have learned, network with other JAG students from the region as well as meet employers in the area. The JAG program is a state-based, national non-profit organization dedicated to helping high school students achieve success through graduation. Kimberly Snodgrass is the instructor of this program. JAG Students Compete
Governor Eric J. Holcomb announced  the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning is awarding another $6.9 million in employer-sponsored child care grants to an additional 22 businesses, community groups and school corporations, bringing the total invested to $25 million.

NMHS Winter Homecoming Court

Danny Russell portrays President Abraham Lincoln at the Crawfordsville District Public Library on Sunday. He spoke for about an hour on his upbringing in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois and his entry and involvement in politics. He spoke on what he feels was the most important act as President, the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery in the United States. Russell is a professional actor, who portrays Lincoln and other famous Hoosiers, James Whitcomb Riley and Daniel Boone. He studied acting in Chicago and has been doing Lincoln for about 20 years. Russell resides in Indianapolis.
