The Crawfordsville Board of Works and Safety approved several items during its meeting Wednesday, including a noise abatement, a lane closure request and steps forward on two construction projects.
The board approved a request from Wabash College student Gavin Bateman for a noise abatement on Saturday. The abatement allows the Kappa Sigma fraternity, located at 200 W. College St., to extend noise levels for an event until midnight.
Members also approved a request from Metis Construction representative Ed Moff to close a lane along Purple Heart Parkway near Buffalo Wild Wings. The closure is set to begin April 14, and will last up to two weeks to accommodate construction work.
In other business, the board opened bids for repairs to the Milligan Park Pool and took them under advisement. The two bids came from Spear Corporation of Roachdale for $193,883 and Buddenbaum and Moore of Noblesville for $298,693.
The board also moved forward with the Elm Street extension and water project. After the previous agreement with JS McCullough Excavating was withdrawn, the city selected the next lowest bidder, Price Excavating, for the project. The board approved a contract with Price Excavating totaling $2,373,001, with an expected completion date of Dec. 31.
