Commissioners award road repair bid

Montgomery County Commissioners awarded the Community Crossing grant to Reith Riley for work to be completed this summer. The state announced the grant award after originally denying the county’s request.

The amount of the bid was $1,271,740. The grant, which includes a 20% match, is for $1 million. The balance of $254,348 will be paid from the county highway department budget.

The grant funds will be used to pave C.R. 625E from C.R. 500N to S.R. 32 to U.S. 136.

Commissioners approved a notice to bidders for the replacement of Bridge #80 located on C.R. 300N west of C.R. 100W. The engineered estimate to replace the bridge is $762,000.

A new memo of understanding between the county and Thrive West Central was updated. The move was necessary to enable a couple of projects within the owner-occupied rehabilitation program to be completed.

This week is National Telecommunicators Week and commissioners recognized county employees working in the emergency dispatch center.

Commissioners signed an Arbor Day Proclamation dated April 24.

A resolution approving loan documents to purchase Priority Dispatch Software was approved. The lender is Tri-County Bank and Trust.

In other business, commissioners:

• Approved the annual section corner and regulated drain certification report.

•Approved a resolution authorizing Crawfordsville Area Transportation to coordinate and provide transportation in the county under federal guidelines.
