Judith “Judy” Eads passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 31, 2023, at Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette.
For those of you who know Judy, I hope you will understand that she will be missing her hair and nail appointments this week. Judy was preceded in death by the love of her life Richard “Dick” Eads, who she met at New Market High School. They were married for 56 years before he passed.
Born Aug. 8, 1941, to Robert and Evelyn Frame in the Crawfordsville hospital, she started life west of Waynetown, until they moved to the Frame Family Farm on C.R. 600S, west of New Market. She graduated from New Market High School in 1959 and went on to Indiana University in Bloomington to study education, ultimately completing a master’s degree. After graduating from IU, she was hired to teach first grade at New Market Elementary School. She taught at all grade levels but had her longest stretch teaching second grade. One of her proudest achievements was starting the South Montgomery Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. She wrote a grant to get the funding, developed the curriculum and administered the program for many years. In all she taught at New Market for over 35 years. Judy loved to spend time with her family, travel, participate in church functions, and talk on her phone.
Judy is survived by her two sons, Brad (Kathryn) Eads of Waynetown and Bart (Nancy) Eads of Auburn, Indiana; four grandchildren, Brandon (Alexandra) of St. Louis, Missouri, Katelyn of Richmond, Virginia, and Colton and Cooper of Auburn, Indiana; and great-grandson Baker of St. Louis, Missouri. Judy also has two siblings Roberta “Gay” Eagleston of Gosport, Indiana and Gary Frame of Austin, Texas, who survive her.
Always the educator, Judy has donated her body to the Indiana University School of Medicine, so there will not be a calling or funeral service. A celebration of life will take place with close friends and family at a later date.
