Martha Helen “Marty” Boone was born Aug. 2, 1944, in Crawfordsville. Marty was the daughter of Howard and Helen French Webb. Following the death of her mother shortly after her birth, she was lovingly raised by her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Lillie Kinkead French. She graduated from New Ross High School in 1962.

Marty married Thomas Boone on Feb. 27, 1970, in Crawfordsville, and together they built a life centered around family, love, and the comforts of home. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved.

A true homemaker at heart, Marty had a special gift for making a house feel like home. She loved flowers, antiques, and decorating, taking pleasure in creating beautiful, welcoming spaces filled with warmth and personality. She also loved cooking for her family, sharing her love through the meals she prepared and the time everyone spent gathered around the table. For Marty, home was more than a place — it was where memories were made, traditions were cherished, and family always belonged.

Marty worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons and later at Town Crier Auction in Crawfordsville. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her family and took pride in the everyday things that made life meaningful.

Marty, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at Newton Village in Newton, Iowa. She was 82 years old. Marty was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents who raised her; her brother, Thomas Webb; and her sister, Ruth Lester.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Boone of Newton; her daughter, Lisa (Mike) Earley; her son, Ryan (Donna) Boone; her two grandchildren, Hailey Huffman and Vincent Huffman; step-grandchildren, William Patton, Brandon Patton and Timothy Patton; her sister, Nancy Pierson; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and relatives.

Marty leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the home she helped create, the family she cherished, the beauty she brought into her surroundings, and the many memories made around her table. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
