VOLLEYBALL

Harrison tops Athenians

Crawfordsville traveled to Harrison on Thursday and lost 0-3. Set scores were 13-25, 10-25, 15-25.

Nolan Watt led the Athenians with five kills plus five blocks and Andrew McCoy added three.

Coach Javan Callison said his squad performed better than they did in their loss against McCutcheon on Wednesday. Harrison is regarded as one of the best teams in the state.

“We played better than we did at McCutcheon and cut down on several errors,” Callison said.

The team welcomed David Munoz-Estrada back to the lineup as he has recovered from an injury.

“It was nice to have David in the fold today,” Callison said. “He added another element to our attacks.”

Crawfordsville will play host to Lebanon 6 p.m. Monday.

TENNIS

South tops North

Southmont defeated county rival North Montgomery 4-1 on Thursday on the Mounties’ home courts. The match was competitive, but it was the Mounties that won several close matchups.

Southmont No. 2 singles Maggie Gilliland defeated Cassidy Thomas 7-6(4), 6-1. The Mounties No. 3 singles Mackenzie Gillogly defeated Caelyn Carpenter 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Southmont’s No. 1 doubles Ashlyn Gillogly and Jozee Jones beat Annie Hess and Lauren Delp 6-0, 6-2. The Mountie No. 2 doubles Claire McCutcheon and Savannah Bradley defeated Izzy Shrade and Isabelle Hamby 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Mustangs shutout Gophers

Fountain Central defeated Clinton Prairie 5-0 at home on Thursday.

Mustang singles No. 1 Elise Webb defeated Cynthia Roche 6-2, 6-0 and No. 2 singles Laney Hoagland beat Adrianna Perkins 6-0, 6-0, Mustang No. 3 singles Esme Muniz defeated Jessi-ca Roach 6-0, 6-0

In doubles action Mustang No. 1 of Savannah Bowers and Lilly Peterson beat Avery Wertz and Sydne Newcomer 6-1, 6-2. The No. 2 doubles of Rya Jackson and Lydia Perkins defeated Macy Ward Addison Palmer 6-1, 6.

Fountain Central (1-0) travels Monday to Covington.

GOLF

Athenians defeat Cascade

Crawfordsville defeated Cascade 189-191 Thursday at Deer Creek Golf Club.

Athenian Caiden Murray was the medalist by firing a 44.

Other Crawfordsville scores were Owen Pierce 47, Jude Hurt 48 and Colton Custer 50.

The Athenians will travel Saturday to Eagle Creek Golf Club for the Ritter Classic.

SOFTBALL

Mustangs beat Central Catholic

Fountain Central’s Jacquelynn Weber helped power the Mustangs to a 19-5 victory over Lafayette Central Catholic. Weber had five hits with four RBI while hitting two doubles and a triple.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one inning and scored in five of six frames.

Fountain Central had 18 hits in the game. Mallory Massey collected four hits and K. Sonte, Patience Bixler and Kynleigh Elkins each recorded two hits apiece. Elkins had four RBI.

Bixler was the winning pitchers. She surrendered five runs and just one earned run in six innings of work.

Fountain Central (1-2) will host Crawfordsville at 11 a.m. today.

TRACK AND FIELD

Chargers sweep at dual meet

North Montgomery boys and girls swept a co-ed meet Thursday against North Putnam and Eminence. The boys scores were North Montgomery 102, North Putnam 50 and Eminence 5. The girls scores were North Montgomery 104 and North Putnam 41. Eminence did not field a girls team.

The Chargers won every event except two in both the girls and boys meets.

Charger girl winners were Gracie Ratliff - 110 hurdles (16.52) and 300 hurdles (49.42), Ella McManomy - 400M. (1:02.42), 200M. (27.49) and long jump (14’6), Anna Cain - 100M. 13.38, Katelyn Woolwine - 3200M. (13:33.48), Ava Leader - pole vault (6’0”), Alyssa Mantesta - discus (86’9”) and Abigail Cain - shot put (31’1”). North won the 4x100 (53.93) and 4x400 (10:35.98).

The Charger boy winners were Clayton Brown - 100M. (10.92) and long jump 19’8,” Carlos Trevino 100 hurdles (18.89), Drew Dark - 1600M. (4:47.36) and 3200M. 10:35.98, Kale Mitchell - 400M. (54.39), Hunter Hayworth - 200M. (22.82), Eli Peebles - high jump (5’4”), Kaydn Cohee - pole vault (8’0”), Gage Taylor - shot put (39.8”) and Logan Ireland - discus (110’2”).

The Chargers won the 4x100 (44.96) and 4x400 (3:30.91).

Athenians sweep South

Crawfordsville’s girls and boys track teams swept Southmont on Thursday in a dual meet at the Athenian Sports Complex.

The Athenian girls won 93-39 and the boys won 94-48.

In the girls meet, Crawfordsville won 13 of 16 events. The Athenian boys won 14 of 16 events.

Crawfordsville girls winners were: Sydney Elizondo was a double winner in the high jump (4’10”) and long jump (17’ 0”), Bea Swick - 100M (12.62), Alea Seward - 200M. (26.04), Caro-line Melevage - 400M. (1:04.23), Kathrine Novak - 3200M. (12:44.17), Aubrey Lowe - 100 hurdles (17.27), Camy Cutcliff - 300 hurdles (53.47) and Alayna Schroeter - discus (85”9’).

Southmont girls winners were Darby Cottrell - 1600M. (6:23.32), Molly Williams - pole vault (7’6”) and Layla Gomez - shot put (35”.0’).

The Crawfordsville boys winners were Dylan Wolcott - 100M. (10.96) and 200M. (22.77), Josh Inskeep - 1600M. (4:51.97) and 3200M. (10:49.57), Andrew Hurt- 400M. (55.20), Logan Lowe - 100 hurdles (16.17), Jason Minnette - 300 hurdles (44.17), Korbin Sowders (5’4”), Aiden Ryker - pole vault (8’6”), Johnovan Smith - long jump (19’16”) and Wyatt Million - shot put (42’6”).

Winners for the Southmont boys were Jackson Fruits - 800M. (2:17.27) and Graison Million - discus (83’7”).
