LINDEN — A 35-year-old Indianapolis man was taken into custody Wednesday after authorities say he barricaded himself inside a Linden home while officers attempted to serve arrest warrants from two counties.
Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Crawfordsville Police Department went to a residence in the 200 block of West Water Street at about 8:56 a.m. to arrest Mizael Agustin Vargas-Rosas.
According to authorities, Vargas-Rosas was wanted in Hamilton County on charges of dealing cocaine, dealing methamphetamine and carrying a handgun without a license. He was also wanted in Montgomery County on charges of fraud and domestic battery.
When officers arrived, Vargas-Rosas was standing outside the residence but ran back inside as officers attempted to make contact. Authorities said he refused commands to exit the home and barricaded himself inside, prompting officers to establish a perimeter around the property.
The Montgomery County Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT team was activated at about 9:17 a.m. Authorities later obtained a search warrant for the residence, and the SWAT team entered the home and took Vargas-Rosas into custody at about 12:16 p.m.
Vargas-Rosas also was charged with resisting law enforcement. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Crawfordsville Police Department and Crawfordsville Fire Department.
