Wabash ties for 24th at Illinois Wesleyan Invitational

NORMAL, Illinois —Wabash climbed four spots on Saturday’s final day of the 2026 Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, shaving two strokes off its opening-round score to finish tied for 24th in the 41-team field at 46-over par after 36 holes. The Little Giants followed Friday’s 308 with a 306 over the final 18 holes at Ironwood Golf Course to tie Carthage College in the final standings.

Senior Liam McAllister led the final-round push with the Little Giants’ best score of the day, firing a 4-over 76 to finish the tournament tied for 78th place at 10-over 150. McAllister improved by one stroke from his opening-round 77 and totaled five birdies on Saturday, including three on the back nine at holes 12, 16, and 18. His round helped spark Wabash’s move up the leaderboard in the final team standings.

Freshman Finn Carteaux, Wabash’s low scorer after Friday’s opening round, added an 8-over 80 in the second round to finish tied for 90th overall at 11-over 154. Carteaux recorded three birdies in the final round, highlighted by a birdie at No. 6 and another on the par-4 17th.

Freshman Leo Dellinger and Charlie Seaburg each posted strong bounce-back rounds of 79. Dellinger improved by two shots from Friday’s 77, carding four birdies, including a pair on the front nine at holes 6 and 8. Seaburg made the biggest improvement among the scoring five, trimming eight strokes off his first-round 87 with a 79 that featured four birdies and a much steadier back-nine 39. Dellinger finished tied for 110th at 13-over 156, while Seaburg closed tied for 218th at 23-over 166.

Sophomore Mason Pierle rounded out the team scoring with an 84 after opening with 76 on Friday, finishing at 17-over 160 for the tournament and tied for 167th.

Wabash also received another solid individual effort from senior Lucas Ranard, who matched Friday’s strong play with a 3-over 75 to finish tied for 40th overall at 7-over 148. Ranard again turned in one of the Little Giants’ best rounds of the day, using four birdies to post the low 18-hole score among Wabash golfers on Saturday. Freshman Jacob Eble completed his tournament with an 8-over 80 as an individual competitor.

Host and ninth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan won the team title at 6-over par for the tournament, finishing 14 strokes clear of runner-up Nebraska Wesleyan.

Wabash will compete at the Spalding University Preview April 11-12 in Edinburgh, Indiana.
