ATTICA — Crawfordsville placed third Saturday at the IHSAA boys golf sectional played at Harrison Hills Golf Club in Attica. The Athenians shot a 342 which was 15 strokes behind champion Tri-West and four strokes behind second place Parke Heritage.
Crawfordsville individual scores were Caiden Murray 81, Colton Custer 86, Owen Pierce 87, Jordan Archer 88 and Jude Hurt 92.
Athenian Coach David Pierce said his team did not play their best during the day but was still able to place in the top three teams who now advance to the regional on Saturday at Coyote Creek Golf Club in West Lafayette.
“The guys struggled today, but fought through adversity, and did well enough to play together one more week,” Pierce said.
North Montgomery placed sixth with a score of 359. Charger individual scores were Isaac Hamby 82, Brody Roche 88, Jackson Grundy 93, Dylan Priddy 96 and Mason Mills 106.
Southmont shot 360 to place seventh. Individual scores were Austin Foley 80, Carter Ludlow 89, Ethan Hutchison 93, Hunter Thompson 98 and Carson Vaught 100.
Meet medalist was Ben Shyrock who carded a 78. He will join Foley and Hamby at the regional for being the top three individuals whose teams did not advance to the regional.
Sectional team scores were Tri-West 327, Parke Heritage 338, Crawfordsville 342, Riverton Parke 344, Covington 348, South Vermillion 354, North Montgomery 359, Southmont 360, North Vermillion 382, Seeger 404 and Attica 414.
