Letter: Be sure to attend City/County addresses

Posted

I would like to take a moment to invite the citizens of Crawfordsville and Montgomery County to attend the 2020 State of the City/County Addresses on Thursday on the third floor of Fusion 54. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with a meet and greet followed by the addresses beginning at 7 p.m.

Presenters will be Mayor Todd Barton and the newly-appointed County Administrator Mark Casteel who will provide the latest information on the status of various topics and concerns affecting the citizens of the city and the county. What’s the status of the Steller projects? How’s the Ben Hur project moving along? What’s the status of city/county budgets? What’s the current direction of economic development? What projects are the city and county working on together? These are just a few of the questions that individuals may be wondering about and this is an opportunity to hear firsthand where our leaders feel we are and what’s their vision of the coming year.

This annual review is presented by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County and the Indiana Federation of Business & Professional Women of Montgomery County. Light refreshments will be served.

While both groups are non-partisan organizations, both groups feel strongly that citizens have every opportunity to hear from their representatives, in person, so that they can form their own opinions on the state of our community. These “in person” events are even more important these days with the vast amount of “mis-information” flooding the internet and social media.

Both officials will be available to meet with the public before and after their presentations. Copies of the latest edition of the League’s FOCUS book on Montgomery County along with copies of the 2019 Government Directory will be available at the door.

If you can’t make the event in person, you can still hear it live by tuning on your local True Country WCDQ 106.3FM.
