The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety approved a range of contracts, street closures and infrastructure-related items during Wednesday’s meeting.
Members approved a $193,883 bid from Buddenbaum & Moore for repairs to the Milligan Park Pool, selecting it over a $298,693 bid from Spear Aquatics. The board also finalized an agreement with Buddenbaum & Moore to complete the project at that cost.
Several street and alley closures also received approval. Patrick Russell will close Pike Street at Pike Place following the Farmers Market on May 16 for a Spring Fling fundraiser hosted by the Zachary Thomas Carter Foundation from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jason Pastore, 604 S. Green St., will close the alley along his property for a graduation open house on May 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Price Excavating will close Elm Street from South Boulevard to Whitlock House on April 30 and May 1 for milling, cleaning and repaving. Fairfield Roofing will block the alley at 113 N. Washington St. and two parking spaces from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while BK Painting will block two parking spaces on East Main Street from May 9 through May 30 to paint 105, 107 and 109 E. Main St.
B&M Construction will block five parking spaces in the lot off Main Street behind Fusion54 for a dumpster for four days beginning April 29. One parking space on Main Street at Fusion54 will also be reserved for two weeks to accommodate a work truck during elevator repairs.
In other business, the board approved a resolution to fund the city’s wastewater project to replace digesters and authorized the project to be advertised for bids.
The board also approved a $13,000 agreement with Forman Blasters for the 2026 Independence Day fireworks show at Milligan Park and renewed its agreement with Reedy Financial Group for municipal advising services.
An agreement with DES Engineering, in partnership with Montgomery County, will fund development of a comprehensive cap maintenance plan for the former landfill on Whitlock Avenue, with the $32,639 cost split evenly.
The board also approved an agreement with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, LLC, to prepare a new proposal for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program. The proposal will support efforts to buy out properties along the Sugar Creek erosion area, with consulting fees not to exceed $6,000.
The board also appointed CJ Mullet as C Shift battalion chief.
