Chargers win first MAC game

North Montgomery traveled Tuesday to Frankfort and came home with their first Monon Athletic Conference victory. The Chargers defeated the Hot Dogs 23-16.

Charger Sophie Welshimer led the offense that produced a season-high for runs. The sophomore was 3-for-6 with five RBI.

Jane Campbell had two hits, including a triple, in the second inning with North scoring six runs.

Kendar McClamroch pitched all seven innings for the Chargers, giving up nine hits and striking out 11. Of the 16 Hot Dogs runs only six were earned because of five Charger errors.

North Montgomery (2-10, 1-6 MAC) played Frankfort (0-11, 0-7 MAC) at home on Wednesday. The Chargers play Friday at Sheridan (2-7).

 

Mustangs lose at Covington

Covington defeated visiting Fountain Central 12-2 in five innings on Tuesday in a Wabash River Conference game.

Covington scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to help secure the win.

Fountain Central collected 10 hits but had trouble scoring runs while the Trojans scored all of their runs on 10 hits.

Mustangs Mallory Massey and Kynleigh Elkins each had two hits.

Trojan Ashlyn Alexander went 3-for-3 at the plate including two doubles.

Fountain Central (7-8, 3-6 WRC) will host Covington (10-5, 5-0 WRC) Thursday.
