In March commissioners elected to participate in the new opioid settlement. A requirement to receive funds needs to be kept separate from the original opioid settlement funds.
The health department also requested they the department be named as the overseer of the funds for the county. Drug Free Montgomery County will be tasked with funding oversight and management.
The funds are expected to be received soon and no expenditures will occur until a formalized plan is presented by the health department to be approved by commissioners.
