The Crawfordsville Police Department was dispatched at approximately 11:13 a.m. Thursday to Crawfordsville High School following a report of a student allegedly in possession of an explosive device.

Officers immediately made contact with school administration to coordinate evacuation procedures. The student identified in the complaint was quickly located and removed from the premises.

Out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of student and staff safety, students and faculty were transported to Crawfordsville Middle School for reunification while officers conducted a thorough investigation. Searches of the school were completed by responding officers, along with K-9 sweeps conducted by the Tippecanoe County Bomb Squad.

No dangerous items were located, and there are no ongoing safety concerns at this time.

The CPD was assisted by the Crawfordsville Fire Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Tippecanoe County Bomb Squad and the Crawfordsville Community School Corporation.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Geoff Payne at 765-367-1126.
