Franklin College presents The Lizzie Borden Show

Crawfordsville native Lauren Minks to perform

FRANKLIN ­— The Franklin College Theatre Department is presenting a spine-chilling play, The Lizzie Borden Show: A Speculation this October. The performances will take place at 8 p.m. beginning Oct. 5 through Oct. 7 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 8. All performances will be in Théâtre Margot in the Johnson Center for Fine Arts.

Among the performers cast in the show is Lauren Minks of Crawfordsville. She will play the part of Emma. Other cast members include: Josie Lyons of Coatesville as Lizzie; Rylee Grimes of Greensburg as Bridget; Nate Irskens of Greenwood as Man 1; Robert Pollard of Evansville as Man 2; and Emma Jones of Greenwood as Man 3.

Members of the production crew include: Lance Fennell of Monrovia, stage manager; Ken Casey of Martinsville, assistant stage manager; Olivia Fannin of Indianapolis, light board operator; Grace Allen of Greenwood, sound board operator; Haylie Lilak of Flat Rock, running crew; and Laura Sickmeier of Greenwood, house manager.

This fast-paced and highly theatrical play focuses on the accused murderess Lizzie Bordens return from the grave. At the center of the play is Lizzie, her older sister Emma, and the maid employed by the family at the time of the murders. Examine the facts, court transcripts and testimonies while also diving into the role that sexism, social economy and repression have in one of the country’s most famous unsolved double murders.

Robin Roberts, professor of theatre at Franklin College, will direct the play.

General admission is $12. Admission for each performance is $8 for students and seniors. Franklin College students, faculty and staff receive free admission with a valid Franklin College ID.
