Hudsons donate choking rescue devices to MCSO

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is expressing its gratitude to lifelong Montgomery County residents Curt and Cindy Hudson for their donation towards the purchase of ArixMed choking rescue devices for patrol deputies.

ArixMed is a non-invasive choking suction device that does not need to go deep into the mouth and throat. The device is placed over the mouth and nose to create a seal, then is pulled to create a one-way suction to remove lodged food or object in seconds. Its upward vent valve prevents air from pushing the obstruction further into the airway, ensuring no additional harm to the body.

Curt Hudson, who recently retired from 50 years of farming, learned of these devices from a television program and after doing some research, he contacted Sheriff Ryan Needham and offered to supply the devices to deputies.

“While we hope they are never needed, they will be available to the deputies in the event they need to respond to a choking child or adult,” Needham said.

The Hudsons are proud community members who have donated to various organizations in the past to make Montgomery County a better place.

“We wanted to do something that we felt like would benefit the community and something that could save a life,” Hudson said.
