North Montgomery senior Dusty Robinson is known for working hard in the swimming pool and the classroom. The results have led to her being named the 2025-26 Journal Review Girls Swimmer of the Year.

Robinson is finishing her time at North Montgomery as a swimmer on a Charger team with the most wins in a season. She specialized in the backstroke and was a strong freestyle swimmer.

Robinson found success for the Chargers in the 100 backstroke and was a member of the Charger 200 and 400 medley relays.

She was the Montgomery County, Monon Athletic Conference and sectional champion in the 100 backstroke and was a member of the MAC and sectional champion 200 medley relay team.

The Chargers also set a record by sending 11 swimmers to the state finals.

Robinson looks back and cherishes her time swimming for her high school. She said great longtime teammates and coaching added to the experience.

“I would not be the swimmer I am without my friends who are by best buddies,” Robinson said. “The definitely are a good group of girls and we ended with a great season.”

As for her coach, Erin Yeager, Robinson is glad for many reasons to have been around the coach.

“Coach Yeager is amazing,” Robinson said. “We have a great friendship and I can talk to her about anything from swimming to any life topic. She always taught lessons outside of the pool and made sure we worked inside the pool. Swimming at North was a good experience.”

Coach Yeager complimented Robinson.

“I have enjoyed Dusty in the classroom and in the pool,” Yeager said. “I appreciated how supportive she was with the other team members and her enthusiasm was contagious. I never had to worry about where Dusty was because you could always hear her cheering for and encouraging her teammates.”

Robinson believed this year’s team would be good but felt they had to prove themselves in each meet. She said the squad relished in how they felt the competition viewed them.

“It felt great knowing we had such a successful season,” Robinson said. “We liked going into meets as the underdog. All the swimmers wanted to have success and we all wanted to be there taking on challenges.”

Robinson kept busy during her high school years outside the pool as well. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Home Society, Key Club, Ethics Bowl and studied nursing in the Career Technical Education program.

Outside of school Robinson is a 10-year 4-H member where she showed beef cattle and had photography projects. She also has helped with children’s youth group and has played keyboard for the praise team at First Assembly of God in Covington.

Robinson will attend Butler University and will be a member of the women’s swim team. A visit to the campus sold her on where she wanted to swim and study to become a physicians assistant.

“When I visited Butler I was impressed with the coaches and the team members,” Robinson said. “It was such a team atmosphere and I like how the coaches support the girls after college. I am excited to be a part of the swim team and participating in the Big East Conference.”

Robinson is the daughter of Misty Robinson and has two siblings, Riley and Reese.
