Letter: Michal supports Petrie for judge

Posted

I am writing to encourage you to vote for Daniel Petrie for Judge of Montgomery County Superior Court. I believe Daniel is well qualified for this position.

In my contacts with Petrie, I have found him to be Intelligent, well informed, considerate, discerning and fair. He is good with people of all ages, a good listener and witty. He is even fluent in Spanish.

He is well acquainted with the workings of the Superior Court. As a practicing attorney and as a public defender, Petrie has represented a great number of clients who appeared before this court which has jurisdiction over probate matters, guardianships, divorces, misdemeanors, low-level felonies, traffic, small claims and other civil matters.

As a founding member of the Veterans Treatment Court, which is a part of the Superior Court, Petrie received training, participated in developing standards, and then has worked with a team to help preserve the rights of participating veterans and work to rehabilitate them.

Petrie is knowledgeable about the legal needs of youth. As a public defender for the past 10 years, he has worked with the Child in Need of Services program. That along with his collaboration with the Department of Child Services and his membership on the board of the Youth Service Bureau, have given him insight into the needs of children and the services that might help them.

All of the above, in addition to Petrie’s involvement in the community with Crawfordsville Main Street, Montgomery County Economic Development Board, Boys & Girls Club board, Crawfordsville Rotary Club and the Christian Nursing Service board, lead me to believe Petrie will be looking out for what is best for Montgomery County and its citizens of all ages, abilities and economic status.

I urge you to vote for Petrie for Judge.

Judy Michal
