Market opens soon with new name, expanded offerings

The local farmers market will return for the season in May with a new name, expanded offerings and some new changes for visitors to enjoy.

Now called the Crawfordsville and Tri-County Bank Farmers Market, the update comes after a recent three-year sponsorship from Tri-County Bank, which included a $3,500 contribution.

As usual, the market will be held every Saturday from May through September at Pike Place, beginning May 2 and ending Sept. 26. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon.

New market manager Kristin Collins said most vendors from last year will return, along with several new additions, including new produce vendors, two food trucks and a vendor selling permanent jewelry. The 1832 Brew coffee truck will also return this season.

Collins said the market will also bring back its Kid Entrepreneurship Days twice a month, giving kids a chance to set up and sell their own items alongside regular vendors.

The market will also introduce a monthly Chef’s Table, where local chefs will prepare samples for visitors using ingredients sourced primarily from market vendors.

“About 80% of what they are making will come directly from our vendors for produce,” Collins said. “There will be a recipe card so people can take it and shop for that specific recipe from our vendors.”

Collins hopes the community will come out and enjoy what the market has to offer this season.

“Just anticipate a lot of fun things going on within our market,” she said. “We’re hoping that everyone comes down and sees the new and returning vendors that we have and just has a good time and supports the local community.”
