Five more alleged victims have come forward in a child molesting case against a local youth ministry volunteer.

Jordan Lee Roseboom, 24, was arrested Wednesday. He now faces 10 counts of Class C felony child molesting.

Roseboom was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Tuesday. On Monday the mother of a 10-year-old boy contacted officials at Rock Point Church in Crawfordsville and alleged that she had witnessed Roseboom having inappropriate contact with her son in the boy’s bedroom. The family had come to know Roseboom through his volunteer position at Rock Point.

After meeting with church parents and Roseboom, church officials escorted Roseboom to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, where Roseboom turned himself in. Roseboom’s bond was set at $6,000 surety or $2,000 cash. Bond was posted and he was released from jail the day after his arrest.

No court dates are set in the case at this time. No contact orders for all the alleged victims have been issued.

Court documents allege that Roseboom fondled or touched the alleged victims, who are all males younger than 14.

Rock Point pastor Terry Thompson spoke Wednesday at a press conference, saying the matter was “a tragic situation,” and that officials at Rock Point had encouraged Roseboom to “do the right thing.”

Roseboom was not an employee at Rock Point. He had been a member of the church for about five years and had been a volunteer with its youth ministry program for two or three years, Thompson said.

Roseboom has no prior criminal history. A background check was run before he was permitted to work with children at Rock Point, but it revealed nothing.

None of the alleged acts of molestation occurred at Rock Point or at events sanctioned by the church, Thompson said.

Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Casteel said the investigation into the case will be ongoing.

Class C felonies are punishable by a maximum prison sentence of eight years.
