North, South advance to golf regional

ATTICA ­— North Montgomery and Southmont advanced to the IHSAA Golf Regional by placing second and third, respectively, in the Attica Sectional at Harrison Hills Golf Club.

North Montgomery shot 390 for its second place finish. Charger scores were Marlee Reed 81, which was second best out of 10 participating teams. Mallory Inskeep had the fifth best score of all the teams by shooting a 93.

Other Charger scores were Hadlie Horn 103, Isabella Hamby 113 and Addisyn Sabo shot a 114 as the fifth scorer.

Southmont’s third place finish was led by Lanie Ramsey’s 97.

Other Mountie scores were Kaycee Perez 102, Emma Gleason 104, Addison Kendricks 105 and fifth scorer Maggie Gilliland 106.

Crawfordsville placed ninth by shooting 485.

Athenian scores were Claire Dennison 105, Serenity Wright 125, Samiya Hamilton 125, Naomi Sermersheim 130 and Karleigh Brown 134.

Fountain Central’s Bella Bacon and Lily Gregory shot 102 and 109, respectively.

Western Boone outdistanced the field by carding a school record 353. Star Ally Lewis was the medalist by firing a 73.

The top three teams will participate Friday in the Lafayette Regional at Harrison Hills Golf Club. Recent flooding has changed tournament sites in the state. The local regional has been moved to Attica as part of the changes.

The regional competition will be the top three teams from West Lafayette, Western, Guerin Catholic, Attica and Brownsburg sectionals plus any individuals who placed high enough to advance even though their team did not move on.
