County schools successful at FC Grand Prix

VEEDERSBURG — All three Montgomery County high schools posted good outings Saturday at the Fountain Central Grand Prix held. A total of 12 schools competed in the event.

In the boys meet, Crawfordsville’s Josh Inskeep was the champion by completing the course with a time of 17:39.10 which was better than 99 other runners.

Southmont’s Trent Reeves finished fourth with a time of 18:00.70.

North Montgomery had two top-10 finishers. Cooper Stephens was fifth running the course in 18:07.80. Drew Dark had a time of 18:23.60 which placed him in seventh place.

North Montgomery placed third in the team standings with 83 points. Crawfordsville was fourth with 108 points and Southmont finished the day in fifth place with 110 points.

Other county boys top-20 finishers were Jackson Fruits in 18th place with a time of 19:40.10 and North Montgomery freshman Ethan King with a time of 19:45.10 which placed him 19th.

In the girls meet, Crawfordsville placed third out of eight schools with a score of 87. North Montgomery finished fifth with 107 points. The girls meet had 82 runners.

Crawfordsville’s Alea Seward completed the course in third place with a time of 23:22.60. The Athenians’ Ella Seward placed 20th with a time of 25:04.10. Placing 21st was Soren Olofson (25:24.40) and finishing 22nd was Brooklyn Wilkins (25:20.80).

Charger Sarah Hopper had a fourth place finish with a time of 22:35.40. North’s Katelyn Koonz placed 12th with a time of 24:38.90.

Southmont was led by Amarah Shannon who finished in 27th place with a time off 25:47.0

The Mounties did not field a complete team.

Fountain Central did not have complete teams in either the boys or girls events.

Top Mustang runners in the boys’ meet was Lucas Kirkpatrick in 36th (20:38.60) and in the girls’ meet was Haley Kler in 41st place (27:00.00).
