SOFTBALL

North Putnam defeats Athenians

North Putnam defeated Crawfordsville 16-2 in five innings on Tuesday.

Crawfordsville was held to three hits and committed five errors in the game played at North Putnam.

Athenian Christina Susdorf had two hits including one double. Laikyn Dowell had the other Athenian hit.

Crawfordsville’s Molly Pierce took the loss on the mound but only surrendered 12 runs but only one earned run in 2.2 innings.

The two teams battled at Crawfordsville on Wednesday. The Athenians will travel to Attica on Friday.

 

Panthers shutout Mustangs

Riverton Parke defeated Fountain Central 8-0 on Tuesday.

The Panthers took the lead in the first inning with three runs and outhit the Mustangs 7-4 in the game.

Fountain Central helped the Panthers by committing five errors.

The Mustangs mustered four hits led by Jackie Weber and Patience Bixler with two apiece.

Fountain Central (0-2) will play Thursday at Lafayette Central Catholic (0-1).

 

BASEBALL

Athenians beat North Putnam

Crawfordsville opened Monon Athletic Conference action Tuesday with a five-inning 11-1 home victory. The Athenians outhit the Cougars 10-1.

Athenians Henry Bannon and Landon Gerold each had two hits. Matt Miller had a three-RBI single. Ethan Campbell and Jacob Lee each added two RBI.

Bannon picked up the win on the mound. The junior struck out 10 and did not issue a walk.

The two teams met again Wednesday at North Putnam. Crawfordsville (2-1, 1-0 MAC) will be off until Saturday when they travel to Fountain Central.

 

Mustangs lose to Riverton Parke

Fountain Central lost Tuesday at Riverton Parke 5-2. The Mustangs were held to just three hits in the game.

The victory was a Wabash River Conference sweep for the Panthers.

Fountain Central (0-2) will host Crawfordsville at 11 a.m. Saturday.

 

TENNIS

Athenians start season 2-0

Crawfordsville defeated West Lafayette 4-1 on the road on Tuesday.

Winning for the Athenians was No 2 singles Mable Hoar (6-2, 6-2) and No 3 singles Kiera Toomey (3-6, 6-4, 10-8).

Crawfordsville No. 1 doubles team of Isla Seward and Alayna Hall won 6-1, 6-0 and the No. 2 doubles team of Elliot Baker and Sarah Melevage won (6-3, 6-7, 6-1).

On Monday, Crawfordsville defeated Lafayette Jeff 3-2.

Athenian winners were Hoar and both doubles teams.

 

GOLF

Crawfordsville opens with a win

Crawfordsville opened the season at Clover Meadows on Tuesday and defeated South Putnam 177-200.

Athenian Jude Hurt shot a 41 and was the meet medalist. Other Athenian scores were Owen Pierce 43, Caiden Murray 46 and Colton Custer 48.
