Mavericks beat Athenians
Crawfordsville was defeated Wednesday by McCutcheon 157-177.
Crawfordsville scores were Caiden Murray 41, Jude Hurt 45, Jordan Archer 45 and Owen Pierce 46.
Crawfordsville will compete Saturday in the Monon Athletic Conference meet to be played at Rocky Ridge Golf Club.

Athenian season ends
Crawfordsville’s boys volleyball season came to an end at the McCutcheon Sectional on Wednesday. The Athenians lost 3-0 to Tri-West. Set scores were 9-25, 16-25, 19-25.
In Wednesday’s second game, McCutcheon beat North Putnam 3-0. Scores were 10-25, 14-25, 18-25.
No individual statistics were provided.
TRACK AND FIELD
Chargers compete at Fountain Central
North Montgomery, Western Boone and Fountain Central gathered Tuesday for a meet at the Mustangs track. Charger coach Kory Bucher used the event to mix up his lineup, placing some athletes in different events.
Boys winning first place were Payson Frazier (800M), Drew Dark (3200M), Eli Peebles (long jump and high jump), Chris Bolen (discus) and the 4x400 relay team of Dakota Glasson, Clayton Brown, Peebles and Donovan Haworth.
Winning in the girls meet were Sarah Hopper (800M), Mady Holt (long jump), Gracie Ratcliff (100 hurdles and 300 hurdles), Alyssa Mantesta (discus and shot put) and the 4x400 relay team of Mady Holt, Makayla Holt, Sophia Powell and Kendall Barnett.
Athenians split at Danville
Crawfordsville traveled to Danville and split with the Warriors. The girls’ team won 91-28 and the boys team was defeated 65-57.
The Athenian girls won all but two events.
Winning for Crawfordsville were Namet Macegoza 100M (12.77), Alea Seward 200M (26.08), Italia Espinosa 800M (3:01), Osi Herrera 3200M (11:50.31), Caroline Melevage 400M (1:04.07), Melissa Dowd 1600M (6:51.67), Aubrey Lowe 100M hurdles (16.91), 4x100 relay (51.25), 4x800 relay (11:49.52), Sydney Elizondo high jump (4’10”), Cary Cutcliff pole vault (5’6”), Elizondo long jump (16’3/4”) and Alayna Schroeter discus (89’1”).
Athenian boys winners were Izay Melvin 100M (10.92), Josh Inskeep 800M (2:12.46), Huntyr Miles 200M (22.86), Jason Minnette 300M hurdles (42.96), Corbin Sanders high jump (5’10”), Grant Schroeter pole vault (9’6”) and Logan Lowe 110M hurdles (15.78).
Track and Field sectionals are near
Girls and boys track and field sectionals are right around the corner. Crawfordsville, Fountain Central and North Montgomery will compete at Lafayette Jefferson. Southmont teams will travel to Terre Haute North. The girls sectional will be Tuesday and the boys will take place Thursday.
Schools in the Lafayette Jefferson sectional are Attica, Clinton Central, Clinton Prairie, Covington, Crawfordsville, Fountain Central, Frankfort, Lafayette Central Catholic, Lafayette Jefferson, McCutcheon, North Montgomery, North Vermillion and Seeger.
Teams competing at Terre Haute North will be Greencastle, North Central (Farmersburg), North Putnam, Northview, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, Southmont, South Putnam, South Vermillion, Sullivan, Terre Haute North Vigo, Terre Haute South Vigo and West Vigo.
